Well, as many of you know, 7 years ago Apple switched over to INtel for it's desktop and notebook products. Now it seems Apple wants to replace Intel, using their own chip just like with their smartphones/iPod Touches. Do you think that Apple will do it? 

Apple couldn't engineer itself out of the global LTE mess, but maybe Intel can. The new iPhone 5 features 4G LTE, which is going to dramatically improve Internet speeds for AT&T and Verizon iPhone owners. (Sprint subscribers are left waiting for LTE to arrive where they live.)

Ivy Bridge is the first in a series of upcoming Intel mainstream chips that emphasize graphics and multimedia processing over more traditional compute tasks. And most importantly for consumers, Ivy Bridge chips will power the wave of Windows 8 ultrabooks that will break later in the year. Those systems are expected to have touch screens and include hybrid designs that straddle the laptop and tablet markets.

As the highly anticipated launch of Windows 8 looms, Intel revealed some specific hardware details about tablets running on Microsoft’s soon-to-debut OS at a conference in Beijing on Friday.

Windows 8 tablets will be available in 10- and 11-inch designs, with an anticipated nine-plus hours of battery life and 3G/4G connectivity. Other than the fact that the 11-inchers will be hybrids with a physical keyboard, the specs aren’t too surprising.
